Doha: As Qatar enters the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic, several precautionary measures have been taken by the state to stop reduce the spread of the virus including restricting entry in many places to only fully vaccinated people.

As these procedures came into effect from last Saturday, January 8, 2022, many people have taken to social media to talk about the rights of people who are not vaccinated.

A campaign called "The rights of unvaccinated people in Qatar" has been trending on Twitter and has been the top trending hashtag until the time of writing this report.

Some, through the hashtag, appealed to officials that as long as there is green status in Ehteraz everyone must be able to enjoy all their rights.

Abdullah Al-Athba, former editor-in-chief of Al-Arab newspaper, tweeted: “It is not permissible to prevent people from enjoying all their constitutional and human rights as long as Ehteraz is green, and this is no longer justified after the vaccine failed to prevent the spread of the Omicron mutant among those who received the vaccine, including me. We must live with Corona and not put ourselves in a big prison that harms our economy and society.”

Others commented on the subject that the unvaccinated are stripped of several rights.

“What is the fault of the unvaccinated person, who is forbidden to attend the book fair that I have been waiting for two years, forbidden to enter commercial centers, salons, and spas, forbidden to enter restaurants and cafes, in addition to all that, needs weekly Covid test for work,” tweeted Jemand.

In other responses to the topic, Muhammad wrote that some companies imposed a Covid test every 48 hours on employees who were not vaccinated at the employee's expense.

In another tweet, Fatima said: "We hope that the officials who took this decision will retract it because it is against the constitution, the law, and human rights... Therefore, we ask you to follow the example of the Ministry of Awqaf, which has reversed its decision to prevent non-vaccinated people from entering mosques."
