Jordan remains united in adversity

The will of Almighty Allah is irreversible and His command cannot be put off. The hero and martyr, Maaz Al Kasasbeh, is not the first Jordanian to meet his Lord while doing his duty on the battlefield, fighting a group hiding behind an Islamic front while Islam is far removed from its actions.
Maaz won’t be the last one either, since this group is trying to tarnish the image of Islam and its tolerant values. It is also attempting to destroy Arab nations and fragment our homelands for the benefit of our enemies.
This reminds us of the Arab martyrs in Jordan, going back to time to the Battle of Mu’tah and Yarmouk; in addition to the Jordanian struggles against Zionism. These will not be the last battles of this great nation.
Islamic State (IS), the group that pretends to be Islamic, dared to burn its hostage alive. By doing that, IS has committed two crimes: the first is killing a hostage, which is a disgraceful and forbidden act in Islam, let alone burning him alive. They coldly watched as fire consumed his body as he stood in an iron cage repeating his declaration of faith.
Islam advocates dealing humanely with hostages, preserving their dignity and protecting their rights. The Holy Quran says that they are among those who are vulnerable and deserve sympathy, compassion, and care because they are as weak as orphans. Allah Almighty says in the Quran:
“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.” (76:8)
I direct my questions to the leaders and religious scholars of IS: What is the difference between you and the Israeli rabbis who permit killing “others” — anyone who is not a Jew? Do you remember the kidnapping of the Palestinian youth Muhammad Abu Khadr, who was only 15 years old, when he was going to perform the Fajr prayer in Jerusalem? He was kidnapped by a group of Israeli settlers who tortured him and then burnt him alive.
Do you remember the Iraqi hostages crammed into Abu Ghraib prison by the occupying American and British forces in 2003? Do you remember what these forces did to the prisoners, including two American jailers — who could have been Zionists — who let sniffer dogs eat body parts of prisoners till they died? Do you remember what the Zionists and their agents did to refugees in the Sabra and Shatila camps? Tell me frankly, what is the difference between what you are doing and the actions of Zionists and their rabbis?
I doubt that your members, scholars and leaders are either Zionists or belong to groups who envy the peace of our Arab nations as you target Sunnis everywhere, like in Iraq and Syria. We cannot see your faces as you cover them, while fighters in Islamic history never hid their faces.
What you did to the martyred Jordanian pilot is a barbaric, hideous act according to the teachings of Islam. Your obscenity and your actions against innocent people in Iraq and Syria have nothing to do with Islam and Muslims. Moreover, your gruesome acts will never deter Jordanians, Iraqis and Syrians from tracking, fighting and eliminating you.
No one has the sympathy to support you anymore, not because of your ideology, but because of what you did to the Jordanian pilot.
Today, the Jordanian people and army are determined to take revenge from IS for its actions, not only because of the martyrdom of the pilot, but also because of the corruption IS is spreading. Wherever they go they scare the people and brutally treat whoever falls into their hands. By burning the pilot they wanted to shake Jordan, but the opposite happened.
The great Jordanian people are today called upon to strengthen their homeland. The best Jordanian response to IS would be for the country to unite and set aside all sectarian and other differences. This will show how ready they are to avenge any attempt to destabilise their country.
