Doha, Qatar: Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, yesterday attended National Sport Day 2026 activities at Qatar Foundation’s Education City.

The event brought together thousands of community members, reinforcing Education City as a hub for connection, inclusivity, and belonging, where people of all ages unite to celebrate sport.

H H Sheikha Moza, along with Vice Chairperson of Qatar Foundation H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, toured National Sport Day activities held across Education City.

Education City Stadium, the main venue for Qatar Foundation’s National Sport Day activities at Education City, with support from Volkswagen Middle East, provided an inclusive space where women and girls of all ages and abilities came together to celebrate sport.

The stadium also hosted the fifth edition and final match of the Women and Girls Football Initiative, alongside the fourth Women’s Fitness Challenge.

H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani presented awards to the winning teams of the Women and Girls Football Initiative.

Around 1,800 people took part in the first Education City Run: Colour Edition, enjoying a fun celebration of sport and community. The run included different distances for participants, with colourful powder adding to the experience.

A portion of the proceeds from this activity was donated to the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, the Social Impact Partner of the Education City Run: Colour Edition.

Fatima Al Nameh, from the Partnerships Department at EAA Foundation, speaking to media, said, “Education Above All’s role in Qatar Foundation’s National Sports Day activities is to link community participation with meaningful outcomes that support education and students. Part of the proceeds from the Colour Run ticket sales will be allocated to supporting education and students through the foundation.”

She added, “Our message today is that sport is not only an activity; it is a driver of social impact. It connects participation with the community through movement, giving, and by creating real, measurable change in our community.”

At Education City’s Oxygen Park, families and children came together to enjoy a wide range of engaging sports and recreational activities, including those organised by QF’s Ability Friendly Programme. The activities provided young athletes with disabilities the opportunity to participate in sports in a supportive environment, fostering a sense of belonging, confidence, and joy.

Ghoroor Abdulwaheed, a Health and Sports Specialist at QF’s Pre-University Education (PUE), highlighted the strong collaboration between Qatar Foundation schools and national sports bodies. “This year’s edition of PUE’s National Sports Day activities is being held in collaboration with 13 national federations and one club,” she said.

Abdulwaheed added, “In this year’s activities, inclusion is our main focus. We want schools and students of all abilities to feel welcome through ability-friendly activities and a range of options designed for different needs.” This year, Education City hosted a series of curated health talks during National Sport Day, featuring expert-led discussions on gut health, sustainable biohacking, and health misinformation. The sessions allowed participants to explore well-being and resilience, providing practical knowledge to help them make informed health decisions.

As part of National Sport Day 2026 celebrations at Education City, the eighth edition of the annual Shukran Cup once again brought together members of QF’s workforce in celebration of teamwork, wellbeing, and belonging. The tournament featured 359 male and female participants competing across a variety of sports, including volleyball, basketball, football, and cricket.
