ICC celebrates International Women’s Day with ‘Women in Leadership’

Doha: The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) celebrated International Women’s Day with Indian women from different walks of life.

Shweta Kosthi, Head of Cultural Activities, Kamla Thakur Head of activity coordination and Education and all Committee Members, organised the ICC event on the evening of March 8, 2021,  at Ashoka Hall in ICC premises at Abu Hamour.

Complying with appropriate Covid protocol and norms, the participants included Chief Guests T  Angeline Premalatha, Counsellor, Political & Commerce, at the  Embassy of  India,  Maryam  Yaseen  Al Hammadi, Director  General of  Qatari  Authors Forum, Principals of various Indian schools Asna Nafees, Hameeda  Kadar   Begum, Padmini Venkatesh, Manjari Recriwal, Meenal Bakshi, Pramila Kanan and notable artists and wirters, Rashmi Agarwal, Dr Pratibha Ratheesh and  Sushma Harish. 

The event was also viewed by audiences worldwide through FB live streaming. A video message was delivered from Dr Arathi Krishna, former advisor to the ministry of Overseas Indian affairs, Govt of  India. Jwala Awardee Shivani Mishra was also felicitated in the ceremony. 

The function began with a cultural dance and felicitations, followed by cake cutting by Chief  Guests and other invitees. The speakers then shared their experiences and ideas with the audience at large.

The topics included the role and participation of women in decision-making process, gender equality, women empowerment, and of course the frontline role played by women during the pandemic with equal future in the post COVID-19 world.

“The event signified that women leaders have amply demonstrated their skill, power and effectiveness in various fields and have brought a different perspectives and qualities to the table. However, much needs to be achieved in terms of women empowerment to eliminate social and systemic barriers, particularly in the post COVID scenario. ICC endeavors to come up with various activities and events to further the cause of women empowerment and leadership,” ICC statement said.
