NEW YORK: The New York Times said yesterday its Islamabad bureau chief was ordered to leave Pakistan for unspecified “undesirable activities” in the country.
The newspaper said it had “strongly protested” the expulsion order for Declan Walsh, and was seeking his reinstatement.
The order was delivered by police to Walsh’s home at 12.30 am Thursday. “It is informed that your visa is hereby cancelled in view of your undesirable activities,” the order stated. “You are therefore advised to leave the country within 72 hours.”
