DOHA: More than 40,000 people are expected to watch ‘Disney On Ice presents Rockin’ Ever After’ when the latest ice spectacular is held at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) on September 24-27.
The exhilarating new production features adventurous moments from Disney•Pixar’s Brave and Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Tangled and Beauty and the Beast.
After last year’s sold-out success of Disney On Ice presents 100 Years of Magic, Disney on Ice returns to Doha with this energetic new show, which uses the popular talent show trend as a vehicle to weave four stories together.
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy search the globe for the hottest acts to perform in their showcase, leading them into the worlds of Merida, Ariel, Belle and Rapunzel while comical Disney characters make appearances throughout the show to try to be the next superstar.
Produced by Feld Entertainment, presented by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and its Events Diary, OnQatar, and brought to Qatar by Sport & Entertainment Solutions (SES), the show will feature over 100 world-class performers.
“The show is a mix of classic stories Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid and for the first time we have put characters from Brave and Tangled, which is a good combination. We have world-class skaters in a world- class show that would make people happy for two hours,” Horacio Renna, Vice-President, Feld Entertainment, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, told the media at QNCC yesterday.
“Rockin’ Ever After is a unique show. It is a mix of the old and the new. I think this will be something very surprising for everyone to see. The technology that is used, special effects, dance routines are something unique,” said SES Founder & CEO, Ali Haidary.
Ariel’s transformation from mermaid to human, dangling 35-feet over the ice as she shows off her brand new legs and Merida from Brave’s ice debut are some of the things to look forward to in the show.
Haidary said they aim to make Doha the hub for Disney Live and Disney on Ice entertainment events across the Middle East and are working with QTA to bring Disney on Ice and Disney Live continuously to Doha for the next five years.
“Doha is probably the fastest growing city in the region and one of the fastest growing in the world. It has shown its intentions clearly from a global events perspective hosting some of the biggest and major events. I believe in  QTA’s vision of making Doha one of the touristic capitals in the region and the world,” he added.
Rashed Al Qurese, Executive Director, Marketing & Promotions, QTA, said positioning Qatar as a world-class tourism hub with cultural roots was a major aim of Qatar National Tourism Strategy 2030.
