Doha: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has sent a team to the Philippines to assess technical and engineering designs for shelter projects as part of relief and development in the areas hit by Typhoon Haiyan.
This follows efforts by Qatar Relief Alliance of Charitable Societies for projects in Somalia and the Philippines to boost global efforts to help those affected by the typhoon.
QRC is implementing a Qatari humanitarian intervention programme in the Philippines and a fundraiser under the authorisation of the alliance and in the light of a memorandum of understanding signed with its Philippine counterpart last March. It is expected to build residential buildings, including 2,000 homes, at cost of $5.4m. About 10,000 people will benefit from the projects. QNA
