DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday announced the results of the Government Secondary School Certificate final exams for the academic year 2024-25, in which 30 students secured full marks.
A total of 15,672 students appeared in the exams, with a huge 9,534 students securing an average above 70 percent.
Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al-Khater officially approved the results of the Secondary School Certificate examinations for the academic year 2024–2025 during an official session held yesterday morning at the Ministry’s headquarters.
The Minister extended her congratulations to the successful students and their parents, expressing her pride in the honourable results achieved.
She praised the sincere efforts of teachers, school principals, and administrative staff throughout the academic year. The Minister also acknowledged the vital role played by parents and families in providing a supportive environment for their children, particularly during the examination period, emphasising that such success is the result of the combined efforts of all partners in the educational process.
She further emphasised that the analysis of these results and indicators will be carefully considered in future planning and the ongoing review of curricula and strategies.
The Minister concluded with a message of encouragement to students who did not pass, urging them to continue striving and to take advantage of all available opportunities to improve their academic performance.
Following the official approval of the Secondary School Certificate exam results, the Ministry held a press conference to announce and explain the outcomes. The conference featured remarks by Assistant Undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs Khalid Abdullah Al-Harqan and was moderated by Director of the Public Relations and Communications Department Maryam Abdullah Al-Muhannadi.
Al-Harqan also presented detailed success indicators and announced the names of the top-performing students. He further noted that the second round of exams is scheduled to take place in August.
Al-Harqan said that a total of 15,672 students sat for the examinations this academic year. He said 30 students from the science stream secured 100% marks, a significant achievement that was commended by education leaders and teachers alike.
“The science stream for daytime students achieved a pass rate of 86.65%, while the science stream in adult education recorded a pass rate of 43.42%. Students in the arts and humanities stream (daytime) achieved a pass rate of 78.71%, and those in the adult education version of the same stream achieved 45.02%,” said Al-Harqan.
He said that the technology stream achieved a success rate of 76.37%. Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys achieved an outstanding success rate of 98.28%, while the Religious Secondary Institute recorded a similarly high rate of 97.87%.
“Qatar Technical Secondary School (daytime) achieved 82.03% and those in the parallel adult education stream achieved 43.86%,” said Al-Harqan.
He said that Qatar Banking and Business Administration Secondary School achieved 98.20%. Schools for students with hearing impairments achieved a success rate of 85.71%. Students in the parallel stream/adult education achieved a pass rate of 47.11%.
Al-Harqan noted that 9,534 students scored 70% or higher, qualifying them for university admission. For students who did not pass the first round of exams, he said that 3,917 students will sit for the second round, encouraging them to remain motivated and work hard toward success.
Director of the Student Assessment Department Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Muhannadi addressed the governance of grading and result processing to ensure fairness and objectivity. He also explained the mechanism for obtaining official certificates through the Ministry’s “Maarif” portal, available on its official website.
Al-Muhannadi stated: “We have been committed to carrying out all student assessment operations and procedures according to the highest standards of quality, discipline, and transparency to ensure that every student receives a fair and accurate result that truly reflects their performance.”
