Advisory Council team leaves for IPU meet

Doha: An Advisory Council delegation headed by the Council’s Deputy Speaker Issa bin Rabia Al Kuwari left here yesterday for Geneva to take part in the 131th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) due to be held there  form October 12 to 16.
The agenda of this session includes the election of the president and vice-presidents of the 131st Assembly and discussion of the international law related to national sovereignty, non-intervention in the internal affairs of states and human rights, study of standing committees reports, among others.
The session will be preceded by the first IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians entitled “Taking democracy to task”, scheduled to be held on 10th and 11th of this month with the participation of a number of Advisory Council members.
The delegation includes Rashid Hamad Al Maadhai, Mohammed Khaled Al Ghanim, Hadi Saeed Al Khayreen and Nasser Ahmed Al Maliki.
