Corporate world adds fun to Sport Day

DOHA: Qatar’s corporate world joined National Sport Day celebrations in full force yesterday. 
The Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, took part in activities organised by QP and ExxonMobil Qatar. 
He also attended activities of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) at Katara and RasGas Company Limited at Aspire Zone.
Vodafone staff, family and business partners as well as more than 2,000 people participated in Vodafone-sponsored Doha Dash.
Vodafone was also present at Festival Village where participants were able to relax and unwind after the race.
The company challenged participants and spectators to test their skills with a speed shot radar challenge and a reaction test. 
United Development Company (UDC) organised an array of activities at The Pearl-Qatar. UDC Acting Chief Executive Officer Badr Al Meer along with heads of departments and employees took part.
International Islamic (QIIB) employees, led by  CEO Abdulbasit A Al Shaibei, took part in a fun run 
“We, as a bank, support sport continuously and the bank has organised many events. International Islamic is a pioneer in supporting sport initiatives,” he said.
Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company and Barwa Real Estate Company organised activities in Lusail City’s Fox Hills. Employees and their families from both companies took part. 
About Qatari Diar’s celebrations, Khaled Mohammed Al Sayed, Group Chief Executive Officer, said, “This day helps reinvigorate our employees and encourage us all to maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
Commercial Bank celebrated the day with fun-packed activities for employees and their families at various venues around Doha. 
To share celebrations with all members of Qatari society, volunteers from the bank distributed special National Sport Day gifts on the children’s floor at Hamad General Hospital and Qatar Central Bank tent at QCB Marathon on the Corniche.
Qatar First Bank hosted an outdoor event for staff that involved activities, including a mini-football tournament, and leisure games. Winners of the B Active Challenge were also named.
Qatalum hosted celebrations that saw participation of employees across all departments. The company also took part in events of the Department of Industrial Cities, Qatar Petroleum, in Mesaieed Industrial City. 
Qatalum’s support for National Sport Day was part of its commitment to urge its staff to engage in sport in line with the general trend of Qatar to encourage and support sporting activities. 
Activities also aimed at encouraging interaction among workers of the greater Mesaieed Industrial City community, and foster enthusiasm, joy and friendly competitions away from the work environment.
Mashreq Bank employees of all age groups and nationalities turned up at the Corniche with their families to participate in the race. 
Ross Officer, Country Head of Mashreq Qatar, said, “The National Sport day is a fantastic annual event – Mashreq Qatar and all our staff are fully committed to making it a success.”
