DOHA: The Japanese Embassy in collaboration with the Japan Foundation donated 72 Japan-related books to the Qatar National Library yesterday as part of Embassy’s efforts to promote cultural relations between the two countries.
Japanese Ambassador Kenjiro Monji handed over the books to Abdulla Nasser Al Ansari, Director of the Qatar National Library.
The Embassy started handing over Japan-related books donated by the Japan Foundation to the Qatar National Library in 1987 under its annual library support program. The total number of books presented by the Embassy to the Qatar National Library now reaches 915. This vast collection of books on Japan written in Arabic, English, and Japanese has become a very useful resource for providing Qatari readers a wide range of information about Japan.
Ambassador Monji also thanked Al Ansari and the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage for their support at the 23rd Doha International Book Fair in which Japan was a guest of honor.
The Embassy of Japan will continue to make donation of Japan-related books to other organizations and institutions in Qatar in the future.
