DOHA: Labuorers hospitalised at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and Rumailah Hospital (RH), recently received visitors from the Ministry of Labour (MOL) and the Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking (QFCHT).
The visit part of the Weyakum campaign in observance of International Workers’ Day.
Khalid Abdulla Al Ghanem, Director of Labour Inspection Department at MOL visited labuorers receiving treatment at the RH Rehabilitation Section while Mohamed Ali Al Meer, Assistant Director of the MOL’s Labour Inspection Department visited those at HGH.
“This visit is part of our International Workers’ Day events and aims to look into the health condition of the labourers and the healthcare services provided to them,” Al Ghanem said.
Al Meer said he was impressed by the high quality of healthcare services delivered to labourers at HGH. He said the Ministry frequently holds awareness symposiums for engineers and other workers as well as frequent inspections at work sites.
Meanwhile, the QFCHT delegation also visited patients who have sustained work injuries and are being rehabilitated at the RH Rehabilitation Section where they discussed with Wafa Al Yazeedi, Head of the RH Rehabilitation Section, the need for communication and coordination with the hospital’s administration.
Al Yazeedi said visits such as this one help increase public awareness about the social rights of persons living with disabilities, particularly labourers.
“Building on the vision of HMC as the premier healthcare provider, we are looking forward to further collaboration with QFCHT to have a complete rehabilitation cycle where people living with disabilities can be fully integrated in the community after medical rehabilitation,” Al Yazeedi explained.
“The role of QFCHT and other governmental agencies is part of the community’s role in providing psychological support to the workers, giving them self-confidence and hope, and making them feel that they are not alone but that we are with them through the Weyakum campaign,” she said.
