Qatar’s heartening achievements

Qatar National Vision 2030 is a plan that can be divided into five development strategies. These strategies anchor programmes with specific timetables.
A few years ago, Qatar could not take a stand for itself in the world. Now, however, this country’s investments have reached everywhere in the world. Qatar now has a place on the world map as the country with the largest financial institutions. It has outstanding presence in the fields of construction, energy, and real estate trade. In these sectors, Qatar has overtaken many countries that used to have a brilliant record.
Our revered Emir, H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has a vision characterised by the slogan, “Strive for excellence”. This vision is connected to the future of this country. It rests on rational management of resources, professional standards, distinguished production, serving the public good, and extreme care for the welfare of citizens.
The comprehensive development that started in this country years ago is the main concern of the respected Emir. He said, “We believe that integrated and balanced development will be the key for the establishment of a modern country. Qatari citizens deserve a life that suits them in the light of extreme keenness for our Arab identity and religious beliefs”.
Qatar now has an edge over many other countries. It is experiencing sustainable, long-term economic growth. It has a stable banking sector that has a good level of capital. It also has a sovereign wealth fund that is an important investor across the world. Qatar also has one of the largest natural gas reserves in the world.
Qatar is in position to maintain its strong economic performance for a long time. In the years to come, this country will witness major construction activity in the light of the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as a part of infrastructure projects and preparations for the 2022 Fifa World Cup. This means our country is on track to making a major urban leap.
Upgrading our facilities has added value to our petroleum products. It has helped boost the portfolio of petrochemical, chemical and fertiliser companies. This proves the strength of the Qatari economy, and it is strength that will last.
Qatar has investments everywhere in the world today, with its financial institutions investing in a number of countries. It also has presence in fast-growing markets.
All these facts are mentioned in the Oxford Business Group report for this year, which takes note of the comprehensive renaissance that has taken place in Qatar. It is a heartening report. I hope this report is distributed to all ministries, authorities and institutions so that citizens can be aware of their country’s wonderful position in the world today.
