Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality is set to organize the fifth edition of the Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference and Exhibition in Doha on June 25-26, under the patronage of Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, the ministry announced on its official X account yesterday.
The event features the participation of prominent officials from Qatar and several countries worldwide, as well as a distinguished group of experts, specialists, and representatives of companies and institutions operating in the waste management and recycling sector at the local and international levels.
According to information on the website of the conference, the Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference and Exhibition is annually held in line with the strategic plan of the Ministry of Municipality and Qatar’s National Vision 2030, aiming at achieving sustainable development and ensuring the well-being of future generations by promoting the optimal use of natural resources, preserving them, and building a sustainable circular economy in Qatar.
On day one (June 25), the sessions will discuss innovative solutions in the field of waste management and recycling and shed light on their pivotal role in combating climate change and supporting the green economy. The speakers will also review the best legal practices for cooperation between the public and private sectors, in addition to presenting successful models of collaboration between companies and recycling plants.
Another theme of discussion for day one of the conference is ‘The path to an inclusive circular economy that fosters innovation and sustainability”.
The sessions address strategies for the transition to a sustainable circular economy and discuss mechanisms to incentivize companies to adopt full responsibility for the life cycle of their products.
Participants will also discuss the role of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in enhancing the efficiency of recycling operations, in addition to exploring ways to develop the local market for recycled products.
Under “Extended producer and supplier responsibility” theme on June 25, the sessions will address the integrated frameworks for extended producer and supplier responsibility and how to integrate the principles of sustainable eco-design into the manufacturing process. Speakers will also discuss mechanisms for building effective partnerships between producers, suppliers, and recycling plants, as well as clarifying strategies for raising community awareness of the use of recycled products.
“Recycling in construction and demolition” will be discussed on June 26 where the sessions will explore promising opportunities in the construction and demolition waste recycling sector, in addition to showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in developing recycled building materials that meet global quality standards.
Participants and speakers will discuss incentive policies and best global practices to raise sorting efficiency and enhance the use of recycled materials in construction projects.
