DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) held first aid courses and health education lectures for various segments of society and participated in two major health events at Qatar University (QU) and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development.
The courses and lectures aimed to raise health awareness and attract more volunteers. Under its School Programme, QRC Medical Affairs Department organized four informative lectures on topics, such as healthy food, personal hygiene, and first aid.
Attended by 300 students, teachers, administrative staff, and parents, lectures were delivered at Abo Ayoub Al Ansari School, Al Wakra Kindergarten, Ali Ibn Abu Talib Preparatory School for Boys, and Somaia Primary School for Girls.
QRC participated in the third two-day health exhibition held by College of Arts and Sciences, QU, and Wellness Day held by QF’s Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. QRC organized about 30 first aid courses for companies, hotels, institutions, schools, and universities. Trainees received basic training in first aid, surface water rescue, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, how to deal with cases of suffocation, bleeding, injury, fracture, burn, epilepsy, poisoning, and heat exhaustion and techniques of moving injured people.
