Islamabad: Former president General Pervez Musharraf decided to return to Pakistan on March 24, Pakistani News Agency (Dunya) reported yesterday.
All Pakistan Muslim League’s leaders, party’s activists and international media will accompany former president on his return to Karachi from Dubai on March 24, the sources said.
On March 1, Pervez Musharraf announced that he would return home, within a week after the interim government is installed.
“I have decided, in consultation with all my party leaders, I will come to Pakistan within a week after the caretaker government assumes office,” said Musharraf in a press conference in Dubai.
Scheme to legalise smuggled vehicles
KARACHI: Pakistan defended its amnesty scheme for vehicles that has been brought into the country without payment of customs duty, saying it is in the national interest that will bring some revenue.
The scheme is expected to generate revenue of Rs12-15bn and will also get around 2.3 million vehicles registered, which are already on roads.
“These unregistered cars are plying our roads. I do not see any harm if the government registers these vehicles by slapping certain penalty and surcharge on car owners,” said FBR spokesperson Asrar Raouf. Agencies
