DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) is promoting volunteerism and charitable work at the 31st GCC Traffic Week at Darb Al Saai.
A special QRC corner was set up to receive visitors of different ages in which volunteers encourage the public, particularly the youth, to volunteer with QRC in its humanitarian and social projects for Qatari society. They are also encouraged to join its volunteer training and qualification courses for the Sixth Disaster Management Camp to be held from March 31 to April 9 at the Al Khor Marine Scout Camp.
QRC medical teams are present throughout the event, with doctors informing the public about QRC and its humanitarian mission; giving advice and training on how to carry out first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); distributing publications about ebola, coronavirus, heat exhaustion, hypertension, diabetes and road safety; distributing gifts to visitors, particularly children; and showing them QRC’s ambulance vehicles, bicycles and equipment.
QRC’s ambulance vehicles and staff medically cover the celebrations area in coordination with the organisers through radio communication to report any case that requires urgent medical intervention, either by providing instant treatment or referring the case to Hamad Medical Corporation’s emergency unit.
During his visit to QRC’s corner Saleh bin Ali Al Mohannadi, QRC Secretary-General, said, “QRC never misses such opportunities to share with the Qatari nationals their celebrations, secure them against accidents, and keep in touch with all groups -- men, women, and children - to communicate QRC’s humanitarian message to as many individuals as possible and promote the ideal of benevolence among them.”
He commended the efforts exerted by the QRC volunteers.
