DeBakey High School students hosted a social event at Pizza Express to interact with their Best Buddies group members from the Shafallah Center. The students made pizza together. The Shafallah students also received handmade greeting cards from DeBakey students. DeBakey students are required to complete a minimum of 100 volunteer hours prior to graduation, and such activities help build character and social responsibility awareness. The activities are designed with the theme, “They are just like you & me,” in an effort to break away the thought that children with disabilities want to be dealt with any differently.
