DOHA: The Doha Centre for Media Freedom (DCMF) opened the “Training the Trainers” workshop for its Media & Information Literacy programme yesterday at Concorde Hotel Doha.
Participants at the five-day workshop include Qatari trainers and journalists from various organisations and media outlets such as Qatar University, Arabic daily Al Sharq, Al Jazeera Channel, as well as trainers from several GCC and Arab countries.
The workshop aims to train trainers to teach students about media & information literacy, as part of the centre’s effort to integrate it as a subject in school curricula in Qatar.
Dr Rawia Al Humaidan, a lecturer and an academic researcher in the field of ‘Media and information literacy’ and ‘the relationship between children and media & information technology’, is conducting the training. She is specialised in media technology implementation, communication, and education at Kuwait University.
Also she is the chairman of the organising committee of the first international media literacy conference in Kuwait and has delivered many training workshops on Media literacy, and information technology in many countries.
