Moncton, Canada--Colombian playmaker Yoreli Rincon has warned the South Americans have history in their sights when they take on top European side France at the Women's World Cup on Saturday.
"I think we are the power in South America," she said of her 28th-ranked side who play third-ranked France in their second Group F tie.
"We're afraid of no-one. We respect the history of these big teams but we've come with just one goal which is for us also to write our page in history.
"We don't fear their history or their players," she said.
"Tomorrow is going to be a big surprise and a big day for Colombia."
Colombia are playing their second World Cup after 2011 when they were eliminated in the group stage.
They drew 1-1 with Mexico on Tuesday, during which Colombia's Daniela Montoya scored their first ever goal in the tournament, and are now targeting a first win.
And coach Fabian Taborda said: "They are number three, the best European team. They are under pressure, while we have to get a good result that will keep us alive in this World Cup.
"They are not the devil, they are a wonderful team. It fills us with joy, not fear, to play them."
Philippe Bergeroo's French side beat Colombia 1-0 during the 2012 Olympics.
"We've known this team for a long time," said Bergeroo, whose side are looking to advance to the last 16 after their 1-0 win over England.
"I'm very wary of them because in the Copa America they only conceded two goals.
"It's a team with two faces. They went after Mexico throughout their game but in the Copa America against Brazil they stayed back. Which face will they show tomorrow? I don't know."
