Doha: Qatar’s senior leadership paid heartfelt tributes following the passing of Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, remembering him as the architect of the nation’s modern renaissance whose vision, leadership and lasting achievements transformed the State of Qatar and strengthened its regional and international standing.
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing him as “the nation’s great loss” whose impact will remain deeply rooted in the hearts of citizens and residents alike.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the late Father Amir’s legacy would continue to shape Qatar’s development journey, with his achievements standing as enduring milestones in a defining chapter of the country’s history.
He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the late leader and said the invaluable legacy he left for Qatar, its people, and the Arab and Islamic nations would remain a source of pride and inspiration for generations to come, adding that no words could fully express the nation’s gratitude for his contributions.
Speaker of the Shura Council H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim also mourned the passing of H H the Father Amir, extending his sincere condolences to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the ruling Al Thani family, and the people of Qatar.
He described the late Father Amir as the builder of Qatar’s modern renaissance and a devoted national leader who dedicated his life to serving the country, fulfilling the aspirations of its people, and elevating Qatar’s regional and global stature.
He also praised the late leader’s commitment to strengthening Arab solidarity and defending the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.
Reflecting on his personal experience, Al Ghanim said he had the honour of working alongside the late Father Amir, whom he described as a model of leadership, wisdom, foresight and unwavering dedication to the nation. He said the late leader taught generations that leadership is a responsibility and that national progress is built on vision, hard work and belief in people.
He added that the Father Amir leaves behind an enduring legacy of achievements and honourable positions that will remain forever etched in Qatar’s history and in the hearts of its people.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs H E Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani also conveyed his deepest condolences to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the people of Qatar on the passing of HH the Father Amir.
In his message on X, he prayed that Allah Almighty grants the late Father Amir His vast mercy and forgiveness, elevates his rank, and admits him into the highest place in Paradise.
Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi said Qatar had lost a wise leader who devoted his life to serving his country and its people.
He noted that the late Father Amir’s foresight and strategic vision helped establish the pillars of Qatar’s comprehensive renaissance and sustainable development, leaving behind a deeply rooted national and humanitarian legacy that will remain alive in the memory of generations.

Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari also paid tribute to the late Father Amir, highlighting his vision and generosity in laying the foundations of Qatar’s remarkable progress and strengthening its regional and international standing.
He said the Father Amir established a foreign policy based on dialogue, partnership and bridge-building, creating a lasting diplomatic legacy that will continue to guide the nation’s path.
