Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar condemned the continued attacks targeting the headquarters of the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in the city of Basra, in Iraq, along with the accompanying violation of the sanctity of consular missions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that targeting consular premises constitutes a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, stressing the necessity of respecting the sanctity of consular missions and providing full protection for them and their members.
The Ministry renewed the State of Qatar's full solidarity with the State of Kuwait, and affirmed the importance of taking the necessary measures to ensure the security and safety of consular missions and to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
