Ramallah: The Palestinian presidency affirmed on Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements on the so-called Greater Israel vision violate international legitimacy and international law, and undermine the sovereignty of states as well as the security and stability of the region.

In a statement, the presidency said the statements are rejected and condemned, and constitute a provocation and a dangerous escalation that affects the security and stability of the region, as a result of the colonial and expansionist policy pursued by the occupying state, and its refusal to respect the sovereignty of states and the international agreements that govern relations between them.

The presidency stressed that the State of Palestine remains committed to what has been established by international legitimacy and international law - namely, the realization of an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.

It strongly rejected Netanyahu's remarks, which ignore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people - rights that have been reaffirmed by the international community in the New York Declaration and by many European and global powers expressing their readiness to recognize the State of Palestine.
