Kahramaa plans to install smart meters in 3 years

DOHA: Utility distributors Kahramaa (Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation) plans to install smart meters all over the country over the next three years. The idea is to install the ultra-modern power and water measurement gadgets in homes, offices, industrial units and other places to avoid errors in meter reading which is done remotely, Al Sharq reported yesterday. 

The daily said that the corporation has floated tenders inviting supply of smart water and electricity meters over the next three years so as to replace the existing meters all over. Errors occur in remote-reading of electricity and water meters and so customers are billed wrongly, said the daily. The tenders have been invited by the meter reading section of the corporation.
