MANILA: At least 82 police officers, 13 of them officials, were removed from their posts in Metro Manila, an official said yesterday.
Chief Superintendent Dennis Peña, deputy director for operations of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the erring policemen will not be sanctioned but instead undergo retraining.
NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Marcelo Garbo Jr, caught the policemen having abandoned their outposts, being in improper uniform and being lax in performing their duty when he made unannounced inspections of police stations and outposts.
No vomiting in San Juan
MANILA: The San Juan City council has approved an ordinance imposing a fine and a 30-day stay in jail for those caught urinating, vomiting and spitting in public places.
Under the ordinance, approved on October 7, first-time offenders will be fined P500 while those who violate the ordinance for the second time will be given a 30-day jail term, Councillor Rolando Bernardo said yesterday.
Drive nets stolen bikes
MANILA: The Caloocan City police arrested three fugitives and seized 40 motorcycles and four firearms in an anti-crime drive Wednesday.
Arrested fugitives were Jerry Vinuya, Ellan del Rosario, and Roberto Montia. The team also seized more than 40 motorcycles, most of which were stolen.
