Doha: The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani has underlined his ministry’s care and appreciation for people with disabilities, especially hearing impairment.
Addressing the graduation ceremony of the first batch of a programme on sign language for dealing with disability, he highlighted the ministry’s efforts to provide all municipalities and departments with employees qualified in sign language, besides communication service for customer in that language.
He said the programme was the beginning of a series of similar programmes to develop municipal resources to deal with people with hearing impairment.
The Minister hoped that the first batch of graduates will form the first nucleus in sign language and thanked Qatar Cultural and Social Centre for the Deaf, and Chairman of the centre’s Board of Directors, Ali Obeid Al Sinnari, for their keenness in the success of the programme.
