DOHA: Some companies whose commercial registration has been suspended or frozen try to get it renewed using forged documents, an official of the Ministry of Justice has said.
The certificate authentication office at the Ministry has come across several forged documents submitted by representatives (Mandoob) of such companies, Al Sharq reported yesterday quoting Saeed Saleh Al Ahwal, head of the office.
One of the common techniques used by the Mandoobs is to cover the seal which shows the registration is suspended or frozen with a white paper and make a photocopy in colour so that the document could pass as original.
“Some Mandoobs are doing this to help their companies or under their instruction,” said Al Ahwal. Companies that resort to such falsification are mostly those that fell in trouble due to indebtedness or financial crisis.
When the Office suspects a foul play it asks for further documents and verify the authenticity of the certificate by cross checking with the copy that will be available at its archives.
“When we detect the forgery, we would ask the authorities concerned to immediately stop all the activities of that company. We can also refer such cases to the Public Prosecution,” said Al Ahwal.
However, there are some Mandoobs who resort to such tactics without knowing the seriousness of their act, he added. Falsification is also detected in documents of some car rental companies which try to sell out their vehicles to other companies.
He said the office endorses an average 140 documents daily of different types. It has a branch at the Ministry of Business and Trade to deal with sale contracts.
