The Qatar section of ‘The Society of Petroleum Engineers’ held its last technical meeting of the calendar year with a lecturer by Dr Patrick Hudson.
Dr Hudson is one of the world’s leading authorities on the human factor in the management of safety in the oil and gas industry. The presentation, “Developing an Advanced Safety Culture – Non-compliance and the Just and Fair Culture,” highlighted the importance of recognising non-compliance of established safety procedures and developing appropriate ways of managing non-compliance that improve the safety culture of an organisation.
The event gathered over 100 professionals in the oil and gas industry representing several companies. The Qatar Section of SPE saw tremendous growth in membership this year. QSPE Board Chairperson and Deputy Managing Director of Maersk Oil Qatar, Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad Al Thani, said: “The quality and diversity of the QSPE presentations has attracted unprecedented numbers of attendees to the monthly sessions. This has increased QSPE membership and allowed for greater collaboration amongst local industry professionals.”
