DOHA: The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) has welcomed a French delegation of economists, jurists and other legal professionals.
The delegation, headed by Benoit Renaud, President of the ConseilSupérieur du Notariat, and accompanied by M Eric Chevallier, the French Ambassador to Qatar were welcomed to the QICDRC by its President, Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers.
Speaking in French, Lord Phillips welcomed the delegation and the Ambassador to the QICDRC and provided them with an introduction to the work of the QICDRC, commenting upon the role of the Civil and Commercial Court and Regulatory Tribunal in resolving disputes arising out of the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC).
Lord Phillips also commented on Qatar’s experience of embracing international arbitration and the challenges that have arisen in Qatar as a result.
Speaking at the event, Faisal Rashid AL Sahouti, CEO of the QICDRC, said “The QICDRC has provided expert advice and assistance in relation to proposed legislative reforms concerning international arbitration in the State of Qatar which we expect to come to fruition in 2016.”
