QSA launches latest edition of Qatar Atlas

DOHA: The third edition of the Qatar Atlas has been published with latest GIS technology in the form of a book and CD. It contains several basic information about the country and is published by the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA). 

It has been released based on the 2010 census, with a comparison with census in 1986. 

Sheikh Hamad bin Jaber bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of QSA, on the occasion of launching the Atlas, said: “This is one of the basic of information, statistical data and geographical information about Qatar collected by QSA in 2010 and this edition has census and data analysis of population, houses and facilities, comparing them with the former censuses carried out in Qatar.” 

The Atlas contains 162 items that have been presented through graphs and maps and categorised into eight sections. 

The administration section shows places of Qatar with satellite pictures taken between 1946 and 2012. 

The natural geography of Qatar is presented under eight topics and five maps. 

Information on infrastructure development, available services and facilities such as transport, telecommunication, electricity, water, civil services, education and health has been published in one chapter.  

Geographical character of houses and families in Qatar has been separately given in the latest Atlas.   

Characters of the population in Qatar has been presented with 44 maps showing distribution of the population in each area, in terms of age, gender and work force. 

A chapter has been dedicated to information on agriculture, industry and foreign trade. It has been analysed with related data and presented with 11 maps.   

The Atlas is prepared in a very simple and expressive way to give full integrated picture of Qatar.

It reflects the huge development which has taken place in infrastructure and population and about perspective projects for 2022.
