Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) announced today, March 14, an initiative to increase the share of some rationed basic goods for citizens benefiting from food supplies for one time, on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan.

Ministry is doubling the share of rice, sugar, oil, and evaporated milk effective tomorrow, March 15 until March 31, 2023.

The initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment during the past years to help and support citizens and people benefiting from the rationing materials during this holy month when expenses on food products account for the largest proportion of total expenses.

The Ministry has recently announced that food supplies and subsidized goods are a right of the citizens that must not be waived regardless of the reasons. The Ministry also stressed the importance of keeping the ration card and its secret code in a safe place, and not allowing others to hold or use it so as not to be subject to legal accountability.

On Sunday, the Ministry reduced the prices of more than 900 consumer goods, which include the most important food and non-food items required by a family during Ramadan.
