DOHA: There is a plan to set up a new primary health center in Muntazah area near the Psychiatry Department of the Hamad Medical Corporation, a member of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) has disclosed.
The facility once ready is expected to ease the pressure on the sole health center in the area and the facilities in the neighbouring localities.
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is currently working on the design for the new health centre that will be built at 15,000 sqm area, Al Sharq reported yesterday, quoting CMC member Tariq bin Saif Al Maliki who represents the Al Jisra constituency.
He said the proposed facility will be equipped with all advanced facilities and provide a wide range of medical services.
“The new health center will cater to the fast growing population in this locality in the heart of Doha city,” said Al Maliki.
He said work will soon start on renovation of the family park in Muntazah, one of the oldest parks in the country. Located next to the Muntazah intersection, the park has been remaining closed for several years due to delays in carrying out the much-awaited renovation.
Director of the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has informed CMC that renovation work will start soon, said Al Maliki. He said a plot of land has already been allotted in the area for construction of new premises for the Al Jisra club, one of the reputable cultural clubs in the country, based on a CMC proposal.
CMC has also proposed to set up a multi-purpose community hall in the Muntazah area.
Meanwhile, Ashghal has signed contracts worth QR1bn to build several health centres0 and hospitals across the country, another local Arabic daily reported yesterday. The Peninsula
