European soccer legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced Friday via Twitter that he would be leaving French stalwart Paris Saint-Germain when his contract is up after this season, which ends Saturday.

Such a humble announcement.

"My last game tomorrow at Parc des Princes. I came like a king, left like a legen," he tweeted.

Anyway, ESPNFC reported Friday that Ibrahimovic "is in discussions to play in Major League Soccer," with the L.A. Galaxy seemingly the most likely landing spot.

Here's ESPNFC's Jeff Carlisle and Doug McIntyre with more:

LA Galaxy president Chris Klein declined to comment on Ibrahimovic when contacted by ESPN FC, but one source said should the former Ajax, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus forward reach an agreement with MLS, his destination would indeed be the Galaxy.

Manchester United and AC Milan, with whom Ibrahimovic played from 2010 to 2012, also are seen to be in the running for his services.

Ibrahimovic, 34, would hardly be the first aging foreign star to cross the pond for his final professional seasons, as there have been 114 so-called "designated players" in the league since it instituted salary-cap work-arounds in 2007.

But the Galaxy already have the maximum three designated players in Giovani Dos Santos, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane, so it would have to figure out a way around that. It could mean he wouldn't arrive until next year: Carlisle and McIntyre report that Keane could retire after the season (he turns 36 in July) and that the Galaxy could loan out Ibrahimovic to a European club until MLS training camp in January.

Ibrahimovic has helped lead PSG to four straight Ligue 1 championships and is the team's all-time leading goal scorer.
