QUETTA: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Pakistan yesterday, but officials said there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The epicentre was in the city of Khuzdar, in Baluchistan province, at a depth of 26km, meteorological official Zabih Ullah said.
Pakistan straddles part of the boundary where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, making it susceptible to earthquakes.
A 7.7-magnitude quake devastated southwestern Baluchistan in September last year, killing 370 people and leaving 100,000 homeless. AFP
