DOHA: An exhibition on Spanish architecture has opened in Katara Art Centre.
Spanish Ambassador Carmen de la Pena, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager, Katara, and Eduardo Lopez Busquets, Director-General, Casa Arabe, opened the week-long expo on Thursday. It was attended by heads of missions and VIPs.
Entitled ‘On a Journey: Spanish Architecture in the Arab World’, the expo is a showcase of projects by Spanish architecture firms and companies in Arab countries. It is presented by Casa Arabe and the Spanish Higher Council of Orders of Architects.
The exhibition seeks to provide an in-depth analysis of the historical relationship between Spain and the Arab world in the field of architecture and the way it reveals itself at present in the architectural proposals coming from the collaboration between the Arab-Islamic world and Spanish architects.
It also highlights Spanish contribution to contemporary architecture and urban planning in Arab countries.
The expo is open to the public until Wednesday.
