Ramallah: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh called on Japan to fully recognise the state of Palestine to protect the two-state solution.
During his meeting with Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Yamada Kenji on Monday, Shtayyeh demanded that Tokyo call on Israel and pressure it to allow elections in all Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, and to abide by signed agreements.
In turn, The Japanese minister stressed Japan's firm stance in support of the two-state solution, the need to achieve peace in the region, and condemnation of settlement activity, which constitutes a violation of international law, in addition to continuing support for capacity-building and Palestinian institutions and firm support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
During the meeting, they discussed the Israeli occupation's violations, in addition to promoting bilateral relations between the two countries.
