BEIJING: South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region reported 453 cases of dengue, local health authorities said on Monday.

No deaths have been reported in the region so far, according to the provincial health and family planning commission.

The total number of cases in China has now exceeded 30,000, according to an earlier report.

Six people have died in Guangdong, the province which has reported the most cases, according to China's News Agency (Xinhua).

Dengue is a mosquito-borne, potentially fatal disease that affects between 50 million and 100 million people in tropical and subtropical regions every year, causing fever combined with muscle and joint aches. (QNA)
