New Delhi: India's Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj Wednesday said Iran has released from prison nine Indian sailors serving two-year term for smuggling oil.
"Iran has released nine Indian sailors. Thank you Iran. Thank you (Iranian Foreign Minister) Javad Zarif for prompt action on our request," a Press Trust of India (PTI) report said today citing her social media message.
The nine sailors will arrive New Delhi Thursday.
Swaraj had raised the issue of the jailed Indians with Zarif during his visit here in August.
