Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) yesterday arrested one man for alleged involvement in the August 2012 Pune serial blasts, an official said here.

Bunty Jahagirdar, who was picked up from Ahmednagar, has been charged with aiding and abetting the blasts on Jangli Maharaj Road of Pune. He was produced before a court, which sent him to police custody until January 24.

Arguing for his remand under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, the ATS said that Jahagirdar, who had a long criminal record, had supplied two pistols to four people nabbed by the Delhi Police in connection with the blasts.

One person was injured when three low-intensity blasts shook the posh Jangli Maharaj Road, shortly after Sushilkumar Shinde was appointed the new union home minister on August 1. Shortly after the blasts, the Delhi Police had arrested four people from different parts of India, including Nanded in Maharashtra, while the ATS had nabbed three people allegedly belonging to the banned Indian Mujahiddeen.

After foggy start, Delhi sees clear day

New Delhi: After witnessing dense fog, the capital experienced a clear and sunny  morning yesterday as the maximum temperature was recorded at 21 degrees Celsius - average for this time of the season, the Met Office said.

According to Delhi International Airport Limited, nearly 60 flights were delayed due to fog in the morning. Around 20 trains were delayed, said a statement from Indian Railways.

Minimum temperature settled three notches above average at 10.6 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office has forecast fog this morning but a clear sky during the day.

“Today’s maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 20 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively,” said an official of India Meteorological Department.

Earlier, motorists, especially those who left homes in national capital region areas like Noida and Gurgaon to drive into Delhi were hit hard, as the fog was dense and visibility poor. Sunday’s maximum and minimum temperatures were both two notches above average for this time of year at 22.9 degrees Celsius and 9.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
