Doha: Over 30,000 people visited 9th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) and the 3rd Qatar International Environmental Exhibition (EnviroteQ).
The five-day event, organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Ministry of Environment and Climate Change at DECC, concluded yesterday.
Minister of Municipality H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, and Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani honoured the sponsors, and the organizing committee of the exhibition at the conclusion ceremony yesterday.
The exhibition achieved great success in terms of arrangement, a larger number of local and regional international participations offering agricultural, animal, fish and environmental products, and other things.
The exhibition witnessed the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding between the two ministries and a group of participating parties, as well as between local and foreign companies, which contributed to increasing production and effectively contributing to raising self-sufficiency rates and achieving food security, and conducting joint research in their fields and sectors.
Head of the Exhibition’s Organizing Committee Engineer Muhammad Ali Al-Khouri said that the exhibition, during its ninth edition, achieved great success, as it witnessed the participation of 650 parties, and the number of exhibiting companies reached 520 companies including 350 international and 170 local companies.
Al Khouri who is also Director of the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality said that the number of participating countries reached 52 and 30 official local pavilions. He explained that the exhibition attracted 30,000 visitors praising the commitment of all visitors and exhibitors to following all precautionary measures. Al Khouri stressed that the exhibition will contribute to increasing agricultural and animal production in Qatar achieving self-sufficiency in food production.
He said that agreements between the ministry and many parties were signed on the sidelines of the exhibition which showcased the best agricultural and environmental techniques.
For his part, Chairman of the Committee for Associated Activities Conference Dr. Muhammad Saif Al Kuwari said: “Over the course of 3 days, we succeeded in attracting the largest researchers and scientists in the fields of agriculture and the environment.” He said that as many as 56 researchers, including 40 Qatari specialists, spoke at the conference.
Al Kuwari said that the scientists, researchers and specialists who participated in associated confrere activities presented the latest innovations, science and research in the field of developing agriculture sector and food security.
He explained that a large number of people attended the conference during which science, knowledge and experiences were exchanged between scientists and attendees, and great scientific agreements took place.
Al Kuwari said that the exhibition witnessed during the current edition the largest participation of local and international companies, and was distinguished in its current version by the showcasing the latest industrial technologies and modern innovations in the field of agriculture.
