The students took their protest against tuition increases and campus repression to the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) office yesterday, criticizing both school administrators and the education agency for allowing the continuing increase in school fees.

They charged that their right to basic education has been violated.

Filing the complaint before the CHED were youth groups under the Rise for Education (R4E) alliance and the leaders of the League of Filipino Students (LFS) at the CHED office in Quezon City. They charged that school administrators violated CHED Memorandum Order No. 3, Series of 2012, which regulates increases in school fees.

The complainants came from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), University of the East (UE), and National Teachers College (NTC.)
