Berlin: The German army announced on Wednesday that it is suspending its training for Iraqi army forces due to increasing tensions in the region.
The military circles in Berlin issued a statement, cited by German news agency (dpa), that the suspension was taken in coordination with Germany's partners within the Global Coalition against the ISIS organization.
The United States, earlier Wednesday, ordered the "non-essential" government officials in Iraq to leave as soon as possible.
At the end of 2018, Germany had reduced the number of military advisers who supported Iraqi forces to 100 of the 125. (QNA)
