Ankara: The candidate of the Public Alliance President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received 49.40 percent of the vote, while Nation Alliance candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu received 44.96 percent of the vote in the presidential election after running counting about 99 percent of the vote.
Chairperson of Supreme Election Board (YSK) Ahmet Yener stated in a press conference that the presidential candidate of the ATA alliance Sinan Ogan, received 5.2 percent, while Muharram Inge (withdrawn candidate) received 0.44 percent according to the data. Only 192,187 out of 192,214 ballot boxes inside the country have been opened, equivalent to 99 percent, leaving 27 unopened ballot boxes in the country.
In regard to overseas ballot boxes, it was noted that 8,065 out of 9,594 out of the country's ballot boxes had been opened, equivalent to about 84 percent of those boxes.
The remaining votes continued to be counted and data entered into the results calculation system.
On Sunday, Turkiye witnessed presidential and parliamentary elections and the Justice and Development Party (AKP)-led People's Alliance achieved a majority in parliament, while the presidential election was postponed to a second round scheduled for May 28 according to preliminary results.
