Seoul: South Korea’s top nuclear envoy Hwang Joon-kook will leave for Moscow tomorrow for talks with his Russian counterpart Igor Vladimirovich Morgulov.
The meeting aims to find ways on how to resume the six-party talks that seek to end the North Korea’s nuclear weapons programme, Seoul’s Foreign Ministry said. “The two sides plan to have extensive discussions on North Korea’s nuclear problems and issues related to the Korean Peninsula,” the Ministry said.
The planned visit marks Hwang’s first trip to Russia since he was appointed as the nuke envoy in early April, South Korea’s news agency (Yonhap) reported. Hwang recently held a flurry of meetings with his US counterpart Glyn Davies, and Wu Dawei, China’s top nuke envoy, in a bid to discuss ways to resume the long-stalled six-party talks. Agencies
