Kabul: Afghan authorities collected and destroyed 65 tons of expired and low-quality food items in the capital Kabul on Tuesday, officials from the Ministry of Public Health said.

"Today, 65 tons, approximately 11,000 packages of food items (expired and low-quality), were destroyed in the presence of representatives from the Intelligence Directorate and the Kabul municipality," said Mohammad Massoud Rahimi, an official from the ministry's food and drug deputy.

Rahimi emphasized the deputy's commitment to public safety, saying it is firmly committed to eliminating such food items and medicines, and legal action will be taken against violators.

According to him, since March 21, the deputy has collected and destroyed a total of 140 tons of expired and low-quality food and pharmaceutical products in Kabul.
