Doha, Qatar: The President of the Republic of Angola, H E João Lourenço, highlighted the legacy of modernization and development left by the former Amir of Qatar, H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

In a message of condolence addressed to the Amir of Qatar, H H Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Angolan Head of State praised the former leader’s role in the transformation of the country, emphasising his ability to guide the nation’s destiny with “firmness, determination and courage.”

H E Lourenço emphasized that H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani implemented reforms considered decisive for the progress of Qatar, placing the country on a path of development and international affirmation.

“Even in the most difficult moments of its history, he knew how to guide the destiny of his Nation with firmness, determination and courage,” said the Angolan President in the message sent to the Qatari Amir.

On behalf of the Angolan government, his family, and himself, President Lourenço offered his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Qatar, expressing solidarity during this time of mourning.
