Doha, Qatar: Ministers across the Qatari government have paid heartfelt tributes to the late Father Amir, H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing him as a visionary leader, compassionate statesman and transformative figure whose legacy will continue to shape Qatar and inspire the Arab and Islamic worlds.
In separate posts on X following his passing, ministers expressed profound sorrow, extended condolences to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the ruling family and the people of Qatar, while reflecting on the Father Amir’s remarkable contributions to the nation’s development, his unwavering support for just causes, and his lasting impact on generations of Qataris.
Minister of Labour H E Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri extended sincere condolences to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as to the people of Qatar and the Arab and Islamic nations. He said the passing of the Father Amir marked the loss of a leader whose life was filled with service, dedication and achievement.
Al Marri recalled the late leader’s enduring contributions to Qatar’s development and his lasting imprint on the country’s history, stressing that his achievements would remain a source of pride and would continue to be remembered throughout Qatar and the wider Arab and Islamic worlds. He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the Father Amir and for the highest reward for his service to the nation.
Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater described the Father Amir as an exceptional man of courage, honour and generosity whose dedication extended beyond Qatar to the wider Arab and Islamic nation.
She said he demonstrated that politics could be “the art of achieving the impossible, not merely the art of the possible,” highlighting his willingness to bear significant political costs in defence of principles and just causes.
Al Khater praised the late Father Amir’s compassion, saying he never turned away anyone who was oppressed or in need. She concluded her message with an extended prayer, asking Allah to reward him for the good he had done for Qatar and its people, forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal peace and comfort, and give patience and strength to his family and all those who loved him.
Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah said words were insufficient to express the magnitude of the loss, describing the Father Amir as “the father of us all.”
He said the late leader had been a father to the nation and a leader whose goodness reached everyone, adding that his enduring achievements and the prayers of countless people would remain lasting testimony to all that he had accomplished for Qatar and its people. Al Attiyah prayed that Allah envelop the Father Amir in His mercy and forgiveness and grant him the highest ranks of Paradise.
Minister of Commerce and Industry H E Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani also expressed deep sorrow over the loss, offering condolences to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari people and residents of the country.
He described the Father Amir as a father to the nation and a visionary leader who brought about a profound transformation in Qatar’s development journey. Sheikh Faisal said the late leader played a defining role in strengthening the country’s renaissance and enhancing its standing among nations, adding that his legacy would continue to be remembered with pride and gratitude.
