Indian Embassy Doha celebrates 75th Independence Day

Doha: The Embassy of India, Doha, celebrated the 75th Independence Day of the country with great zeal at the premises of the Embassy today.  

The Ambassador of India, HE Dr. Deepak Mittal launched four initiatives on this occasion - Pravasi Bhartiya Sahayta Kendra (PBSK) Qatar, India in Qatar Mobile App, and Bridging Generations and also the handing over of ICBF Group Insurance Scheme to 75 Indian workers.   

PBSK Qatar is a service to provide round-the-clock support to Indian expats through its helpline - 4495 3500 and email PBSKQatar@gmail.com.  

The embassy launched its mobile app making it easier for residents to access its services including booking online appointments and registering grievances and suggestions, etc. The app in its pilot stage is live on App Store and is expected to be available on the Android play store in the coming days. Officials at the embassy stated that more services will be added to the app from September 1.  

Bridging Generation is a series of conversations with senior Indian community representatives who share their learnings and experience of working and doing business in Qatar.   

The Independence Day celebrations began with the Ambassador hoisting the Indian flag which was followed by the national anthem. The Independence Day message from the honourable President of India was read out on the occasion. 

The Ambassador paid floral tribute to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. 

On this auspicious occasion, the Ambassador underscored the cordial ties existing between Qatar and India. 

He commended the efforts by the Indian community during COVID-19 pandemic to help the fellow Indians in distress. 

The event was live-streamed for the Indian community on social media channels. 

The event ended with the presentation of cultural programme by the students of the Indian schools.

The event was attended by community members and Mission’s staff and their families.
