Doha: H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, the Minister of Culture, Arts, and Heritage, who is also the President of the 13th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), left Doha yesterday for Geneva to attend the opening of the 60th session of UNCTAD which begins tomorrow.
Al Kawuri will address the opening session where he will reaffirm the commitment of the State of Qatar under the leadership of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to support the United Nations and its specialised organisations within the framework of Qatar’s obligations for exerting the best efforts to ensure the success of the 13th UNCTAD conference and realise its goals which were endorsed in Doha last year.
Al Kuwari had earlier described creative industries as successful sectors in Qatar alongside the tourism industry. “Our experience in cultural exchange and interaction between nations and cultures confirms that this kind of communication leaves its imprints on relations as a whole, emphasised the Minister.
Qatar continues to make large investments to develop a favourable environment for the creative economy and consistently supports creative services by organising festivals, forums, exhibitions and conferences for the intellectuals, writers and artists.
