Doha: Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman HH Shihab bin Tarik bin Taimur Al Said affirmed today that the security of the State of Qatar is part of the security of the entire Gulf, and part of the security of the Arab and Islamic nation, stressing the need to take action in the United Nations, the Security Council and the General Assembly to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and violations.
In a speech delivered on behalf of HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of the Sultanate of Oman at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, His Highness said that the treacherous attack on the fraternal State of Qatar clearly reveals the seriousness of the current phase and the expansion of the circle of war waged by Israel in the region, disregarding international law, international legitimacy, or the sanctity of innocent blood.
His Highness noted that targeting the State of Qatar, one of the key countries making continuous efforts to calm the situation and revive the peace process in Palestine, only distances us further from the noble goal we all seek: a just and comprehensive peace that achieves the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
HH Shihab bin Tarik Al Said affirmed that Oman, while condemning in the strongest terms this heinous attack, affirms its full solidarity with the State of Qatar, its leadership, government, and people, emphasizing that the security of Qatar is integral to the security of the entire Gulf, and to the security of the Arab and Islamic nations.
His Highness added that the duty today does not stop at condemnation, but rather requires taking practical and tangible steps, particularly on the legal and diplomatic levels.
HH Shihab bin Tarik Al Said said that they must take action at the United Nations, the Security Council, and the General Assembly, and employ the tools of international law to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and violations, and work together to halt this dangerous trend that threatens international peace as a whole.
His Highness added that the Sultanate of Oman believes that the international community's silence in the face of these violations fuels impunity and encourages further aggression.
He called for this to be the beginning of a serious and unified effort that interprets Arab and Islamic solidarity into clear positions and effective pressure to end the occupation, halt the attacks, and restore respect for international legitimacy resolutions.
Concluding his speech, HH Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Shihab bin Tarik bin Taimur Al Said said that their meeting today is held to affirm that the Arab and Islamic nations are capable of facing challenges if they unite, emphasizing that unity of ranks is the best way to safeguard the future of the peoples and protect their homelands.
